Mechanical Engineering
The Mechanical department has been standing as one of the strongest pillars of this institution since 1984. All staff members in the Mechanical department are well qualified with postgraduate qualification specialized in the area of Heat power engineering, Thermal engineering, Combustion engineering, Metallurgical engineering, Manufacturing technology, Industrial engineering and Production engineering. Head of the department has put up nearly 31 years of service in Indian Space Research Organization in the area of Design & Development of Launch vehicle propulsion systems. The department has also a senior professor with Ph.D qualification and long standing teaching and research experience in Metallurgical engineering. Two staff members in the department are undergoing their PhD research programs in special areas.

Mechanical Engineering department has got dedicated staff members who are putting maximum efforts to make the students achieve good results. Individual attention is given to each students. Every 15 students are provided with one proctor staff member as care taker. Class committee meetings with students participation are held regularly to get student’s feed back.
Staff members have participated in various seminars, National conferences, Workshops and presented papers. Staff members accompany the students during industrial visits to expose them to application of engineering concepts and advanced technologies.
Achievements of students:
Students of Mechanical Engineering Department have come out with flying colors in university examinations and have shown excellence in extra curricular activities like National conference, Inter college sports , Engineering exhibitions and NSS activities. They execute college day functions with glory , gaiety and discipline They adore the gallery of project works with innovative engineering models ; the collection of which is a pride for the department. Hybrid bike, Electric bike, Solar tricycle, Easy fold’n bike, Tree climber, Pollution control devices, Rocket model and Heat pipe are a few examples to cite.
Curriculum Importance
Mechanical is one of the oldest field of engineering branches. Mechanical engineering students are required obtain adequate knowledge to enable them to work professionally in both thermal and mechanical systems areas. This is to ensure a minimum level of competence among graduating engineers and to inspire confidence in the engineering profession as a whole.
The fundamental subjects of Mechanical Engineering include engineering mechanics, fluid dynamics & machineries, thermal engineering, heat transfer, thermodynamics, machining processes , material technology, metrology & measurements, computational methods, design of machines, dynamics & control , power plant engineering, strength of materials etc. with related lab works. In addition to the core mechanical engineering curriculum, the department offers more specialized programs and classes, such as mechatronics, special materials, automobile engineering , unconventional machining and management topics. The students are trained to develop their skills in operating independent project works also.
Since the application of Mechanical Engineering is wide, the job opportunities are also wide in comparison to other branches. Our students are found to get attractive placements within and outside India
