WELCOME TO RAJAS DENTAL COLLEGE

The Rajas Dental College was established in 1987. It is affiliated to the Dr.M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai and recognized by the Dental Council of India. New Delhi. The college offers undergraduate and post graduate degree Programmes in dental medicine and surgery. Class room based teaching facilities of the college are located in the vast Rajas Institutes in Vadakkangulam, Tamilnadu. Clinical training is provided in RDC and the Rajas Mission Hospital in Kavalkinaru Junction. The hospital is one of the largest in the state and it has dental facilities with more than 300 dental chairs, an ultra-modern Dental Radiography centre and fully equipped clinics for Oral diagnosis, Periodontics, Orthodontics, Prosthetic dentistry, operative and re-constructive dentistry and Oral Surgery. The hospital is strategically located on the National Highway 7 connecting Nagercoil and Tirunelveli and a branching road to Kanyakumari. As a result, the hospital is able to serve patients from Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli and Tuticorin districts of Tamilnadu. Its Proximity to the cities of Tirunelveli and Nagercoil in Tamilnadu and Thiruvanathapuram in Kerala enables the college to employ some of the best dental and medical professionals from those cities in the college and the hospital. A comprehensive medical faculty offering general and specialized health care is also developed. To provide information to the poor in rural areas, basic treatment and preventive care and dental health, weekly mobile camps are held in the nearby villages. Participation in these activities provides the students exposure to a wide variety of oral health issues and opportunity to broaden their professional skills and social out look.

RDC has an outstanding academic record with more than 90% graduation rate. The college draws students from Kerala, Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh. Northern parts of India and a number of Non-Resident Indians from the middle-east and North America.

The study programme is 100% residential. Excellent and separate hostel facilities for men and women exist. Dentists graduating from the college have established private clinics and found opportunities with hospitals run by the state governments, Armed Forces of India or private establishments. Many have found opportunities for further training or work abroad. The college emphasizes ethics, discipline and professionalism as much as academic training. Students undergoing the undergraduate programme are required to follow a strict dress code and must abstain from smoking and use of alcoholic beverages on campus.
